Bombay Vintage – Opened In January 2016 , this place has the class. Be it the Decor Ambience Food .. all Seemed to be perfect. The first impression from the name , will take you down memory lane and it did. It has that Vintage Look , the Vintage ambience , the velvet red chairs marble tables , rusty walls , old clocks , radios , typewriter , switches the arches on one side of the wall .. Somewhat a bit like Woodside Inn.
Has two levels the lower which is a bit casual and the upper level which has that Vintage feel . also they have a small 8/10 sitter private cabin where one can enjoy a small get-together.
The Cooperate Chef hails from Calcutta who has 4 restaurants under him and the Sous Chef is Giakwad who has managed to put a good menu. Interesting Twists and turns and innovations. Fully Loaded Bar ..
From Breakfast to soup to salad it looks interesting the menu.
SPINACH CORDON BLUE – A simple yet beautiful starter. Fried crunchy stuffed with spinach and cottage cheese but missing the salt. The chef might have forgotten to add salt. Overall Nice.
CHICKEN SUPREME AND JALAPENO ROLLS – This stands out. Basically stuffing of jalapeno and cream. Tender Juicy , spicy , tangy. Oven and Pan Fried in olive oil to that shine , Aroma from the herbs was distinct… Loved it. Served with Cilantro Mayo which went well. It’s a dish to order.
NEER DOSA SUKKA ROLLS – Spicy marination , takes you to the southern part of India. Neer dosa Done perfectly rolled stuffing of diced chicken which had that typical coconut curry leaves and southern spices flavour. Loved it. Not that heavy. Not much of oil used.
VADA PAV SLIDERS – many restaurants in Mumbai have started this trend. This had a good taste. Use of 3 dips … Cilantro Mayo one side of the bun , Paprika Mayo the other side of the Bun , served with Coleslaw. Patty was perfect. Typical Maharashtrian touch , garlic , onions , potatoes mashed well. Onions and tomatoes with the thinnest possible lettuce leaves and a slice of zucchini.
I am unable to get the name of the next dish But Guess its ,
JALAPENO PAV BHAJI – This was awesome. Again the Pav Bhaji fondue has become a trend but this was something which i did not expect. A smooth Texture of the bhaji which had elements like Zucchini , bell pepper ,broccoli and BASIL which had a distinct taste and took this dish to another level. Served with Crispy Focaccia bread. Presentation was perfect (Pic uploaded) very subtle flavour rich in taste and a welcome dish to Bombay . His is a hit for sure.
Had a choice to order Curry and here we were confused as they had Korean/Thai/Malvani/Moilee.
opted for KOREAN TIFFIN – yes the curry and rice comes in a tiffin
Rice done well , Basmati full of Aroma , Korean Curry was a surprise element.
Nicely done curry a bit sweet cause the base element was Pear + Onion garlic and soya sauce had some exotic vegetables like broccoli , zucchini , carrots , mushrooms and bell pepper … Subtle flavour rich aroma went well with the rice.
CHICKEN TIKKA MAKHANI – WOOH !! A MUST ORDER at Bombay Vintage It’s a very Unique dish this You get Chicken Tikka , Spaghetti Aglio Olio and Sauteed exotic Veggies .. Chicken Tikka Yum , gravy outstanding , rich , tomato , tangy , creamy and chicken juicy tender , one of the best in recent times .. Outstanding . The Spaghetti Aglio Olio done well as well , nice texture , aromatic , correct balance of chilli flakes , garlic .. Good presentation .. and Sauteed Veggies with pepper wow.. Again a must order dish.
JAGGERY PUDDING – you can call it a mousse , pudding .. brilliant , not that sweet just the right balance of Jaggery and chocolate , the Use of Almond flakes in the pudding was indeed a good innovation giving that crunchiness in each bite. Served with Vanilla ice Cream.
Bombay Vintage Boasts of some Amazing Cocktails and Sangria’s and it’s a must try.
Green Apple Rock Martini – Vodka based drink with apple Liqueur , mint garnish and lime. Perfect.
Comfortable Mule – this is a signature – Southern comfort ( American liqueur with a fruity , spice and whiskey flavour) with Ginger ale and Lime. well made and very good.
Spiced Apple Sangria – perfect , wow .. Red wine , port wine apple liqueur . To nail a sangria is always a challenge and this was NAILED to perfection . The cinnamon stick , cloves diced green and red apples .. try it out !!
