Asia 7 changed to Asia Kitchen by Mainland China. A brand from the house of Mainland China.
2 Outlets – Lower Parel and Oberoi Mall , New Menu , changed look , looks fresh and exiting.
Open Kitchen gives that gives a good look . Surprising that it comes Under the Chinese category but it’s a Pan Asian Cuisine. Liked the Cocktails what we were served. Coming to the Soup/Starters/Mains/Desserts .. Here we go :
Hot & Sour ( Veg & Non Veg )
Both were good , not very starchy unlike many restaurants , correct consistency and nicely done.
The Veg had the Sprouts/tofu/capsicum/carrots without the mushrooms as this is what i had ordered and the Non Veg had Shredded chicken in soya broth with eggs and the same elements in the veg + the mushrooms . Pepper consistency was just about perfect and taste GOOD.
SOM TAM – after a long time had a perfect Thai papaya salad . Just the correct balance of peanut and Bird eye chillies and lime making it really spicy and full of flavours. Loved it.
DIM SUMS – Broccoli and Water chestnut and corn – good combination , freshly made , steaming hot and soft melted in the mouth with a good stuffing.
Prawns Har gao – another favourite which was steamed well , good stuffing and hot.
Chicken Sui Mai – This was well done , loved it . Minced chicken , good stuffing , excellent texture , loved it with the green onion dip which went well with all the 3 dumplings. Loved all the 3 , a must order.
HUNAN PRAWNS – Batter fried prawns with spicy Asian seasoning. Tossed to perfection with onions and capsicum. Another dish which was served fresh , prawns juicy and delicious.
Asian Pickled Pepper Chicken – Batter fried chicken with onions capsicum in Asian black pepper sauce. Just found this one a bit chewy , maybe the chicken was batter fried and kept it and when ordered Tossed in Asian pepper sauce. Had it been fresh it would have been a different dish , over all good.
CRISPY VEGETABLES WITH ORIENTAL SAUCE – this was a bit different , crispy batter fried veggies with onions / garlic . Oriental spices was interesting . Loved it .
STEAMED VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLLS – great presentation , nice lemon coriander dip in a glass. Each small glass had a steamed rice sheet roll of steamed spring rolls. Just warm enough and veggies fresh. Overall a great dish a must order at this place .
CRAB MEAT IN ROASTED CHILLI PASTE – never had crap before but loved it , just superb. minced soft shell crab meat in soya sauce with roasted chillies and garlic . Loved the balance of the flavour. It was like having a Kheema. Again a killer of a dish.
MAINS – there were 3 but just had 1 .
TOBAJAN CHICKEN WITH CASHEW NUTS – mild Sichuan style sauce . Tasted a bit , good.
PRAWNS IN CHILLI BASIL SAUCE – did not taste hence can’t comment.
VEG PAD THAI – this was just a bit overdone and lacked the balance , missed the flavours. could be better.
HONEY NUT ICE CREAM – Wow
COCONUT CARAMEL CUSTARD – missed the coconut flavour , apart from that good.
LEMON GRASS MOUSSE – too sweet for me
TOFFEE SPONGE TASTE – OK
Overall – this place is good . Not so heavy on the pocket , service – fantastic , great hospitality.
Surely recommended to all friends – go try enjoy the Pan Asian food .
