SMOKE HOUSE DELI – one of my all time favourites has started a Healthy Menu. Frankly was in two minds, stick to the normal Menu or all out Healthy !! It was healthy all the way.
Just to give you a small brief about this place , it’s a cute little place at Pali Hill , they have a sitting on the lower floor as well as on the first. Decor is brilliant. White is commonly used in all the SMD cafes.

Not waiting much time here is what we had :
Kale & Millet Gluten free and Trans fats a vegetarian soup. Kale hales from the cabbage family helps reduce bad cholesterol and life style disorder. Millet is a super grain from India high in nutrition then wheat and rice . Nice combination and perfect.
Paleo Coconut seafood broth – fantastic. Paleo is basically a caveman’s diet contains meat seafood plants but no cereal dairy or processed food. Prawns played a big role in the soup which has a coconut base with coriander kaffirlime mushroom and to give that ting and punch the birds eye chilly and the aroma it had basil . perfect soup to order . Fresh and refreshing , well made and had a good texture. Must order.
Bean Sprout and Crispy quinoa with brown rice and flaks ( sun flower seeds ) gave that crunchiness to the salad , carrot ribbons , cherry tomatoes. Guava reduction was again a masterstroke. perfect in balance , crunchy , fresh and healthy.
Jowar Gnocchi & Mushroom Fricassee Parmesan Crisp – the moment you see it in the menu , its sounds interesting . Jowar in English Sorghum a cereal grain native to Africa but commonly used in our part of the world. Simple yet a beautiful dish made . To nail the Gnocchi is an Art and the chef has done a great job to get it correct. Soft , cuts smoothly , melts in the mouth. Butter Garlic sauce gives that texture and the garlicky taste to it , rocket salad the crispiness. Crisp Parmesan was a fantastic element used. Each bite gave that fruit nutty taste. Overall a fantastic dish and a must order.
Fettuccini Jowar with Braised vegetables – another wonderful creation by SMD and the chef , Winner again. Home Made fettuccini with a hint of olive oil a very subtle tomato sauce topped with poc choy , sun flower and watermelon seeds bell peppers , onions , eggplant , basil and zucchini. Great balance of so many elements yet the balance was perfect . wow !!
Pan Seared Basa with Soya Milk and Bhavnagari Sauce – Kick Hot is the right word . The Bhavnagari Chiily sauce gave that spiciness to the dish. Had a subtle combination of chickpeas , kidney beans and corn. On top was the Basa. other elements used were spring onions coriander zucchini. The sauce was the highlight made out of Smoked Bhavnagari chillies + Steam coriander +Roasted Garlic. Aroma at its best and flavours – try to find out .. YUM.
Tomato Polenta with Truffle Sautéed Veggies – Truffle and this dish goes to another level. Simple yet elegant and flavourful dish. Zucchini bell pepper pok choy ( Chinese cabbage ) nice combination.Perfect.
Cocoa Nip & Soya Milk Cheese Cake ( Mascarpone ) with Nachni Crust – try it out you will love it. Freshness at its best. Soft , melts in the mouth.
Apart from this there were some new cocktails ( smoked ) which SMD has introduced , do try some.
Watermelon and Banana Freeze / Smoked melon Martini / Orange cantaloupe melon + vodka and the classic Daiquiri. Bar Tender has done a great JOB.
Overall – Have never gone wrong at SMD and today too it was just PERFECT , just one small flaw – the Basa was a slight salty. Overall Perfect.
Healthy food at its best. Do give it a try. You will love it.
